happiness
oh to be happy
with loved ones who are filled with excitement
tears streaming down your face
tears of joy
this time
oh to be laughing ever so loudly
jumping jumping up and down
kissing cheeks
slapping hands
hard hugs
high pitched screams
freedom joy love in an embrace
intensity passion true feeling
for once in a moment
you feel
alive

In the words of Proverbs 9:6-12
6 “Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.”
7 Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
8 Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

The Immigration Debate: Good background info

In the words of John F. Kennedy, 1963
’ This afternoon, following a series of threats and defiant statements, the presence of the Alabama National Guardsmen was required on the Univerrsity of Alabama to carry out the unequivocal order of of the United States District Court of the Northern District of Alabama. That order called for the admission of two clearly qualified Alabama residents who happened to have been born...

WHAT!?!?
Are you seriously kidding me?
Like I didn’t know, fear is a freakishly amazing chameleon…constantly changing shape, morphing into different faces and different challenges that can hold anyone down from reaching out “of the box” and reaching out to other human beings.
I hate fear passionately. It inhibits fighting for new experiences, digging deep inside and finding...

Shizo Kanakuri disappeared while running the marathon in the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. He was listed as a missing person in Sweden for 50 years — until a journalist found him living quietly in southern Japan.
Overcome with heat during the race, he had stopped at a garden party to drink orange juice, stayed for an hour, then took a train to a hotel and sailed home the next day,...

the purpose of a trap is to catch; when an object is caught the trap is forgotten.

"You'll be who you are."
I heard my mother say this recently to another person and it resonated with me. There are parts of me that I know need work…some parts more work than others. But when I heard this quote, it made me pause, reflect, and breathe a sigh of relief.

Does it matter?
Some people act like they are going to live forever. My father is legendary for quotes that have been imprinted on my thought process. Several of them pertain to ensuring that wise decisions are made by thinking about the consequences of one’s actions and how they will effect the people around them. Lately, I have been reading a lot of news (aka garbage) and the same story rings again and...

Just another day...
It was just another day. Nothing special. Waking up. Acknowledging God. Dressing. Taking a bus to work. Working the day in the clinic. Leaving, another good day. Thoughts of “what are my plans for the night?” ran through my head. 5pm. Pain. Sharp, stabbing w/ no radiation lasting for a few seconds. Fleeting moments which change the flow of the week.

the heart, abstract thoughts
sometimes it’s good to listen to the words that come out of our mouths. they will reveal our inner most feelings about ourselves, people, places, dreams, ideas, etc. “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”…matthew 12:34 sometimes my feelings, my dreams, my heart, and my mind are not in agreement. i become torn over simple things, mindless ideas. i narrow the...

The choices we make...
Life is all about choices. We live out the destiny of our choices every single day. We can choose to interpret our current situation based on emotions, rationale, spirituality, worldly influences, attractions, connections, inevitable circumstances, etc. But at the end of the day, we have to live with the choices that we’ve made to get to this point. The choices we make can lead to tremendous...

Beauty is vain...
The beauty of life may be covered by the complaints and frustrations of the needs, the shortcomings, and the inadequacies of the personal search for meaning, the substance, the tangible intangibles. Is it not the simple things in life that we should hold so dear? Putting aside the prides of our life, accomplishments, and all else, they mean nothing. Standing in line for a drink of water, waiting...

Food and Leisure
I’ve decided to focus this blog a little more. I have a lot going on in my life and I could post my random thoughts every day, but I’m against that for now. Though random posts will be sure to follow every now and then, I want to discuss food and leisurely activities on this blog. I intend to work on my cooking skills for me. I don’t really cook that much because I don’t really have to cook....
